Robotic Gynecologic Surgery is a new offering by Thieme Publishers. This compact hardcover book is compiled with works by eminent Indian authors in the very exciting and upcoming era of Robotic Gynecologic Surgery.

This book contains 15 chapters that span the topics of Introduction to da Vinci Robotic platform, preoperative and anaesthetic considerations, commonly performed robotic gynaecologic surgeries and cost–benefit analysis of robotic surgery.

All the chapters are laid out in a concise manner with subheadings and cover clinical as well as theoretical overview with specific considerations with respect to each procedure. The text is further supplemented by high-resolution intraoperative photographs and accompanying video links that make reading very easy to comprehend. Few chapters also have details on learning curve of procedures with robotic approach and insight with respect to the Indian scenario. Some chapters are more informative and in-depth as compared to others. Overall, the book is well referenced.

The chapter on Robotic Pelvic and Para-Aortic Lymph Node Dissection is particularly comprehensive accompanied by well-explanatory illustrations and intraoperative photographs.

The book will appeal to novice and experienced surgeons alike who are venturing into the field of robotic surgery as well to the surgical residents who wish to learn more and expose themselves of the tips and tricks of this upcoming technology that is rapidly becoming popular due to its ergonomic benefits and faster recovery of patients in this era of enhanced recovery and fast-track surgery.

This book would make a good addition to the shelves of Gynaecological and Surgical Oncologists and is well worth the investment and serves as a handy reference and a good starting point for further reading on selected topics.
